Wellness At Your Fingertips: The Healing Power of Mantra, Mudra, and Marma Points

Updated: Jun 29, 2024

I use the ancient practices of Mantra, Mudra, and Marma Points when leading Healing Light Energy Journeys, and also utilize them in my Energy Alignment Coaching practice to enhance healing and psychological balance. Unlocking these energies can instigate significant shifts in consciousness, open Spiritual portals and bring subtle healing to the physical body, helping with pain.

These healing practices work in harmony to create proper flow in the pranic energy system, to purify all the subtle layers of our being, from our physical form to the deepest layer of bliss – our inner self, the Atman or Soul of our universal Spirit.

Mudras: Healing Finger Magic!

Mudras are healing hand gestures that can unlock energy flow in the body. Pressing and holding the fingers together in deliberate positions, in conjunction with focused breathing techniques, stimulates the brain (the central power supply of our nervous system) to ignite a subtle inner recharge of energy flow. Each finger is linked to a different organ and to the energy of the five natural elements of earth, water, fire, air and space.  We have all witnessed how these elements of nature can wreak havoc when out of balance. This principle is the same when the nature of our bodies is out of balance – wreaking havoc on our immune systems and all bodily functions, resulting in dis-EASE, which can manifest into Disease.

Marma Points: 108 Healing Pressure Points

Marma points are similar to acupuncture points, but are not necessarily connected to organ meridians in the same way – so their location is not as precise, making them easier to locate on yourself. These pressure points, typically found at the junctures of tendons, joints, bones and flesh, are intelligent energy centers – like mini chakras, capable of storing memories, patterns, and emotional Ama (toxins). Gentle pressure and the visualization of healing light – penetrating these points and stimulating the nerves in that area – will help release tension; stagnant, stored patterns; emotional Ama; and the energy charge behind traumas. This subtle but potent process creates a higher vibrational energetic flow for an elevated level of consciousness.

I often instruct clients to press a Marma point right after getting into supported Yoga asana, and then later during the guided sequence we might visualize imaginary light beams to stimulate that same point.

The Kshipra Marma point helps alleviate Pitta (fire) energy.  I have personally felt frustration literally leave my body when I press this point!

Among the myriad of Marma points, here are a few I find impactful:

  • Angultha or Apana Vata Point: Located between the thumb and index finger, this stimulates pranic flow. It grounds excess Vata (air) energy and calms the mind. This is a great Marma point to help alleviate headaches!

  • Amsaphalaka and Avalambhaka Points: Found near the shoulder blades and tailbone, respectively, these points can soothe back pain and enhance energy flow in the sacral 2nd chakra – allowing more joy, pleasure, creativity, and flow in life. (Sometimes people with stagnant energy in the sacral center can have money flow issues that present as low back pain.)

Some of my clients have reported that lying on their backs, on top of two positioned tennis balls to stimulate these points (as instructed), starts with energy jolt … but then feels grounding, and AMAZING after!

  • Indrabasti Points: Located on the inner forearms and calves, these aid digestion and stabilize the mind.

Mantras: Vibrations of Healing

Mantras are sacred, repetitive, melodic sounds that penetrate the subconscious mind, infusing the psyche with positive, healing vibrations. Chanting mantras synchronizes the two hemispheres of the brain, and promotes alpha waves to calm the nervous system. It has been proven to lower blood pressure, as well as reduce anxiety and depression.  I use mantras in the rebalancing phase of guided healing light sessions, to activate specific chakras for energy healing.

Inviting Celestial Assistance

Angels are higher-vibrational energetic beings existing only in the spiritual realm; they do not incarnate into physical form. They are pure love, and vibrate at the highest level of consciousness. Angels will guide, comfort, and assist us in our earthly journey by uplifting and protecting us. They are not meant to be associated with any particular religion.

Arch Angels provide universal healing and guidance to serve humanity.

Guardian Angels are here to support us individually, and are always nearby and ready to serve when asked.

I find that simply speaking words of gratitude acts like sprinkling fish food to attract your personal school of celestial guidance! I often suggest this practice before Savasana resting pose – the final phase of a Healing Light Energy & Breath Journey and what I like to call "a five-minute Healing Angel nap.”

In summary…

Utilizing wellness at your finger tips and the healing vibration of sound, in conjunction with celestial assistance, provides a subtle but powerful enhancement to holistic health and wellbeing.
