To address this, I've developed a guided meditation coupled with heart centering as a gentle lead-in to silent Heart-Based Meditation (HBM). This approach, which I call ‘Meditation w/Training Wheels,’ helps ease clients into a state of effortless relaxation, making it ideal for beginners and those with particularly active minds.

It is not about being good at meditation… We meditate not to excel in the practice, but to enhance every aspect of our lives.

  • What if somebody in the group has many personal needs and dominates the discussions and sharing?
    This won’t happen because I have been trained to facilitate the group flow and have a gentle timer visible to all on the zoom screen so the person sharing will gauge their own time! I may also invite that person to a private coaching session with me, for resolve. This will enable them to flow more in harmony with the group process the following weeks.
  • What if I need guidance but don’t want to share or discuss a very personal situation?
    I will meet with you privately on that personal situation.
  • What if I prefer not to share?
    Wonderful! This is your experience and sharing is not a requirement! We also use the chat option on zoom, which feels less vulnerable. And you can always send a private chat to me, and I can address your question/concern in a generic way. Some people LOVE to share, and others don’t so this creates a perfect balance. Meanwhile you benefit from the profound sharing of other group members. And you never know … you just might get so inspired by your personal breakthrough that you just want to shout that out! But again, sharing is not a requirement. I intuitively channel guided visualizations and somatic (inner body) explorations,  propelled by breath, as a grounding preparation to settle the mind, shake off stress, and make it easier to sit for Heart Based Meditation (HBM).

 

HBM is an effortless, silent meditation practice that transcends thoughts via subtle mantra to quickly access a different state of consciousness. It's a practice in which thoughts are allowed and necessary, to release and purify the nervous system of a lifetime(s) of stress lodged in the cellular memory.

 

But experiencing so many thoughts, and NOT trying so hard, and just “letting go” can be difficult for many who have been programmed to be action- and goal-oriented. 

 

Combining guided visualizations and heart centering, with heart-based transcendent meditation, helps busy minds or taxed nervous systems  stay the course; keep an eye on the prize of better wellbeing and quality of life.

 

We meditate to get better at life -not better at meditation!

 

Thinking is an involuntary action of the mind, just like how the heart involuntarily pumps blood and sounds a heartbeat. Therefore, it is impossible to suppress thoughts during meditation, just like it is impossible to suppress dreams during REM sleep, which we know is just the nervous system

releasing stress.

 

A meditation ridden with thoughts is just the nervous system releasing stress. But this can be frustrating and uncomfortable; and feels like a monkey mind jumping all over the place as the mind and body begin to detoxify during the silence of HBM. 

 

Including some guided visualization meditation, especially early on, can solidify a daily

meditation practice.  The weekly live Meditation Group is for ALL levels of meditation.

Guided meditation is a soothing narrated visualization that falls in the category of mindfulness, as it is a directed, focused meditation designed to keep the mind from drifting all over the place. It brings immediate solace into the present, and is meant to release current daily stress. Guided meditation is often called guided contemplation, immersive meditation, or somatic explorations, and can include guided body scans (like the practice of Yoga Nidra) to soften and bring awareness into the body and out of the head. 
 

Guided meditation is like having a driving teacher to support and help build confidence and skills before you go at it alone. While driving mistakes might seem more dangerous, the mistake of NOT meditating is detrimental, even dangerous, to life.

 

Living without meditation is like someone who is vision-impaired driving without glasses. 

 

I offer mindfulness guided visualization with intermittent silence as 'Meditation w/Training Wheels,' to help the beginner – or the monkey mind – to stay the course.

 

Like anything, you have to do it first to get results. We work before we get paid!  And like my meditation Teacher Dr. Paul Duglis often says, “Don’t believe anything I say, experience it for yourself!“
